Tonight on Friday Night Fights, former light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (22-5-1 9 KOs) will take on Andrzej Fonfara (23-2 13 KOs) in a crossroads battle. Fonfara and his team are hoping that Campillo has nothing left. In his last notable fight, Campillo was embarrassed and knocked out by Sergey Kovalev in the 3rd round. The fight before that he was dropped three times in round 1 by Tarvoris Cloud before coming back and seemingly dominating the next 11 rounds, only to be robbed by the judges. Gabriel Campillo is no stranger to questionable scoring, his losses to Beibut Shumenov and Karo Murat being other great examples of everything that is wrong with this sport. Although this Friday night, Campillo is going to be fighting more than just a motivated Polish prize fighter and a possible hometown robbery, he is going to have to beat back father time in order to find a way to win. If he doesn’t, he may not get any more big opportunities.
