Tomorrow night at the Pepsi center in Montreal, Adonis Stevenson will put his light heavyweight titles on the line against England’s Tony Bellew. In the co-feature Sergey Kovalev will face Ismayl Silakh with his WBO light heavyweight title on the line. HBO’s long term plan is to stage a super-fight between Stevenson and Kovalev, although Bellew and Silakh will be looking to ruin those plans tomorrow night.
In the Sergey Kovalev vs Ismayl Silakh fight; Silakh will have the advantage in speed and boxing ability with Kovalev having the edge in punching power. Look for Silakh to box well early on, and get out to an early lead. Silakh’s weak chin will once again be his downfall, no surprises in this one, Kovalev by stoppage in the middle rounds.
Tempers flared at the weigh-in earlier today, as Bellew headbutted Stevenson resulting in a brawl between the two camps. Bellew has the size advantage over Stevenson and is arguably the toughest opponent Stevenson’s career. Stevenson will have the advantage in speed and power, with Bellew having the advantage in size and boxing ability. Look for a closer fight than expected, as Stevenson seems to be taking Bellew lightly. Stevenson should be able to overcome any early adversity and stop Bellew in the late rounds.
