Tonight, in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand, Floyd “Money” Mayweather will face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the biggest fight in over 20 years. The fight will take place in at the junior middleweight division, and Canelo’s WBC and Ring Magazine titles will be on the line. As important as the titles are, this fight will have something much more important on the line; The title of Pound for Pound number one.
Much has been made of the weight for this fight, taking place at a catch-weight of 152 lbs; Mayweather easily made weight, coming in at 150 1/2 lbs, with Canelo coming in at the limit of 152 lbs. The young Mexican superstar looked poised and confident at the weigh in, he even refused to hold the WBC title with Mayweather. Floyd was cool and confident as always, soaking in the atmosphere of the jam packed MGM Grand.
So; Who will win?
In the co-feature, look for Lucas Matthysse to wear down Danny Garcia and stop him before round six. Garcia will come out boxing and moving, but will get drawn into a slug-fest around the third round, which will be his downfall.
In the main event. look for Canelo to start the fight out strong, using his strength and size against the older smaller Mayweather. Canelo will win a few early rounds, but around the 4th or 5th round, Mayweather will begin to take control of the fight. Canelo will tire down the stretch of the fight and begin to take a great deal of punishment. Mayweather will win a rather wide UD.
