Andrzej Fonfara Stops Gabriel Campillo In Round 9

Tonight at US Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois, Polish star Andrzej Fonfara stopped former light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo in the middle of round 9. Fonfara got out to an early lead against the notoriously slow starting Campillo only to fall behind on the cards. At the time of the stoppage Campillo was ahead on 2 of the 3 judges scorecards.

Fonfara is now the number one contender for Benard Hopkins’ IBF light heavyweight title, though he will have to wait a while before he gets a shot at the champ, who will be facing Karo Murat in October on Showtime. For Campillo this is now his third loss in four fights, and the second time he has been KO’d in his last three fights. It looks as if the book may be closing on his once promising career.

  1. I really thought Campillo would win this fight, but he’s done. Still hate he got screwed over against Cloud he dominated that fight.
